What is lip augmentation?

Lip augmentation with injectable dermal fillers offers fuller, plumper lips that appear subtle and natural. There are several fillers on the market today with several formulas that will be chosen based upon your personal vision for fuller, lusher lips. Administered via syringe, dermal fillers are a safer, non-surgical treatment to temporarily boost lip volume.

What should I expect with a lip augmentation at Northwest Center for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery?

Although there are several methods available for lip augmentation in Bellevue with our team, our preferred approach for best results and safety is to use temporary injectable fillers like Restylane® and Restylane Silk to deliver beautiful, natural results. We don’t do “duck lips” here, just the most beautiful, natural treatment for lips that will not be obvious to the world.

How many cc’s or syringes will I need for my lips?

Most people need two to three syringes or 2-3 cc. One syringe of Restylane or Restylane Silk contains 1cc of filler. We typically perform the first treatment (if lips are the only focus) with a 1cc treatment. Two weeks later, we will determine if any additional treatments are necessary. This process is designed to help you to understand the results you’ll achieve with 1cc of dermal filler and avoid the undesirable “duck lip” results.

Are there any more long-lasting options?

You can typically expect the results to last four to six months. We advise our patients to be cautious with other lip augmentation options. More long-lasting materials injected into your lips can cause disastrous complications that are virtually impossible to correct. It is important to be patient and continue to use the temporary fillers, as they are the safest treatment available (and are adjustable as you age).

Who can benefit from lip augmentation?

Are there any reasons why I might not be able to have a dermal filler treatment?

You may not be a good candidate for lip augmentation if you have lips piercings or are prone to skin eruptions or cold sores near the lips. It is important to discuss these concerns with Dr. Rand so you can find the best treatment option that works for you.

What should I expect with lip injections?

Immediately following lip injections, your injector may briefly massage the area to ensure a smooth result. Ice may be applied for 20 to 30 minutes.

Should I expect any downtime with my lip augmentation?

Many patients return to work or their regular activities immediately.

How long before I see the results?

You will see the results of lip augmentation immediately.

Should I expect any side effects?

The most common side effects reported are bruising and swelling, which typically subside in a few days.

How much does Restylane cost?

We offer Restylane for a 1 cc unit syringe at $525, and Restylane Silk is $575 for a 1 cc unit syringe.
