Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a quick and easy way to exfoliate your skin and buff away many of the superficial imperfections that have appeared over time. The procedure removes damaged outer layers of skin, allowing skin care products to penetrate better and be more effective. For this reason, Dr. Rand recommends Microdermabrasion as an adjunct to your regimen of medical grade skin care products.

Who should use DiamondTome Microdermabrasion?

Compared to other skin treatments such as laser resurfacing and photorejuvenation, microdermabrasion is very gentle -- providing a quick treatment with little or no downtime and a moderate, overall improvement in the skin. If you have some of the following conditions, you can expect an improvement after microdermabrasion:

  • Oily or dull skin
  • Fine wrinkles
  • Irregular skin texture
  • Minor sun damage
  • Blackheads and whiteheads

The face is treated most often with microdermabrasion, but the neck, chest, arms and hands can also be treated if necessary.

How DiamondTome Microdermabrasion Works

Traditional microdermabrasion involves exfoliation with aluminum oxide crystals and suction. The DiamondTome system is an improved method that is precise and gentle. A special wand is drawn across the skin in a uniform pattern, exfoliating and removing dead skin in a controlled fashion. The DiamondTome system has different abrasion settings to meet your needs, whether you want an aggressive treatment or just a quick renewal before an important event.

What to Expect After Microdermabrasion

To get great results, you may be advised to undergo a series of microdermabrasion treatments. Most microdermabrasion treatments require no downtime and patients return to their normal routine immediately. It is possible to experience side effects like redness or skin irritation after microdermabrasion. Ask Dr. Rand for more information about the likelihood of side effects.
