Breast lift surgery corrects excessive breast sagging to give your breasts a more youthful appearance. Once the breasts have begun to sag, after pregnancy or fluctuations in body weight, only surgery can restore them to a perky position.
The breast lift elevates the nipple areola while reshaping and tightening the breast.
Which Breast Lift Procedure is Right For You?
If your nipple and areola have descended toward or below the lowest point of the crease below your breast, a breast lift may be right for you. If fullness in your breasts has decreased as well, then an implant may also be recommended. Augmentation-mastopexy, a procedure that combines the breast lift with breast augmentation, is an option for some women.
How Breast Lift Surgery is Performed
There are several methods in breast lift surgery; the one chosen depends on how much lift is needed. Surgical incisions may be required in the breast crease, around the nipple or traveling vertically from the nipple to the crease. Excess skin and glandular tissue is lifted or removed to elevate the breasts.
The breast lift is a relatively complex sculpting operation and no two surgeons will give you identical results. Because all lifts will involve surgery scars, the cosmetic improvements -- better shape, toning, and elevation of the nipple and areola --should be very important to you.

After Your Breast Lift: What to Expect
Most patients return to work after about 1 week and resume exercise in 2 - 4 weeks. Discomfort, bruising and some swelling should be expected and medications will be prescribed by Dr. Rand to control pain. Patients are advised to wear a surgical bra night and day for 2 weeks. Scars will initially be pink and slightly raised, but they will fade and flatten out in the months that follow surgery, up to one year.
How long do results of a breast lift last?
It is understandable that one should expect long-lasting results after going through surgery. Several factors affect the longevity of a breast lift: The first is your skin elasticity and tissue firmness: poor skin elasticity and lack of firmness will generally shorten the duration of your results. The need for breast implant to restore volume and firmness will also affect longevity. Finally, the technique and talent of your plastic surgeon will play a major role.
